Description

Leadership of healthcare organizations requires an understanding of organization governance processes. This experiential course will simulate meetings of healthcare organization boards of directors and medical executive committees. Each class meeting will include agendas, supporting materials, facilitated discussion, and simulated decision-making. Topics will include organizational structures, governance design principles, leadership responsibilities, governance documents/instruments, community collaboration, confidentiality, AI and other healthcare technologies, quality and performance metrics, compliance, fiscal oversight, human resources, enterprise risk management, quality control, discrimination and healthcare disparities, tax-exempt organizations, and professional scope of practice.
