This course will be graded with a letter grade based on student’s ability to work effectively with clients, development and implementation of the theory of the client to accomplish client goals, reflective skills development, the quality of oral and written advocacy, participation in class and group sessions, professionalism, collaborative skills development, and general competence and diligence in handling client and classroom work.

Description

The Environmental Law and Policy Clinic is a place-based, community resource with a threefold mission to foster local climate change mitigation and adaptation policy and projects, ensure a safe and clean environment for all regardless of race or income, and facilitate green and equitable economic opportunities. The clinic provides students an opportunity to explore each of these fast-evolving aspects of environmental law while serving the Pittsburgh community and surrounding region. Students engage with partners and clients in a variety of matters including regulatory advocacy, legislative advocacy, public outreach and education, and client counseling – positioning them for impactful careers in environmental law across the government, public-interest, or private sectors.
