Biography

Deborah S. Stern is a health law attorney who represents clients in a wide range of administrative proceedings, regulatory needs, and litigation. Her practice includes Medicaid and Medicare regulations and audits, health care facility licensure, surveys, and certification issues, as well as advising on HIPAA and other privacy laws. She also represents health care entities in Certificate of Need (CON) matters and represents medical providers before professional licensure boards.

Professor Stern particularly enjoys guiding clients on health care compliance issues and risk mitigation.  She is a member of the health care practice at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein, LLP in Raleigh, North Carolina.  She serves on two committees of the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys and is a member of the American Health Law Lawyers Association.

Professor Stern earned her B.A. from the George Washington University and her J.D. from the Temple University Beasley School of Law. She is also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Health Care Compliance Certificate Program.
