Beginning with the fall term 2020, the course will count toward Experiential Learning for graduation requirements. The class will be taught by a trial lawyer with over 30 years experience in representing the media. The focus will be on class participation in experiential exercises, including mock arguments, drafting requests for access to public records and hearings, and mock counseling of media clients on confidential sources, prepublication review of articles and responding to complaints.
The grade will be based on participation in the experiential exercises described above (60%) and a 10-page paper on a topic to be approved by the professor.
